*I was provided with a meet n greet and tickets in exchange for my blog coverage. Any opinions are 100% my dance lovin’ own.
When I think of New York City, I think of Times Square, Central Park, Statue of Liberty, and The Rockettes! The last part is probably due to my years as a dancer, the many years watching The Rockettes in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and then my years as a dance mom.
I was in Manhattan for work two years ago and took a walk by Radio City Music Hall. I didn’t get to see The Rockettes preform, but I swore if I ever returned to the Big Apple, I would. Guess what? They are coming to ME!!
will be taking the stage at the Orpheum Theater in Omaha,
Nebraska for the FIRST TIME EVER
!! A few weeks ago I got the amazing chance to attend a Meet & Greet with two of The Rockettes. One of who grew up IN Omaha! Rachel Borgman
moved to NYC 10 years ago and has been a member of the famous kick line for the past 8 years! Every one of those years she had to try out, as they all do. Did you know that? Karilyn Surratt
was also there. She grew up in the Midwest as well, down in St. Louis, and met Rachel in college.
The Rockettes walked in fully dressed in costume and instantly had me wanting to decorate my Christmas Tree. I know, I know….a little closer to Thanksgiving is more acceptable.
Myself, and fellow Omaha Bloggers, got the chance to ask these fabulous ladies some questions. A variety of things were asked ranging from their beauty routine to get ready for stage (they do their hair and make up themselves!) to what they do in the off season, (many of them keep dancing, teach dancing, others are mothers, or work full-time jobs), and even who the most famous person is they had met. Rachel said a 93 year-old Rockette that had pictures of herself from the 30’s. I’d be fibbing if I said I didn’t get goosebumps during that story…..
PS: The Rocketttes do not touch during the kick line! Mind. Blown.
Getting the chance to chat with two of The Rockettes was an inspiring experience. These girls are hardworking, dedicated, and caring individuals. Hearing what goes into being a Rockette, it really brings the show to life even more. And I haven’t even seen it yet!
“Class & Grace is always on point. They are the epitome of what The Rockettes are.”
So, what will The Rockettes performance in Omaha be like? Get ready for a 50-foot LED Screen will transport you to Times Square and Santa’s Workshop as The Rockettes take the stage with new numbers, including “New York at Christmas”. The new number features a life-size-double-decker bus! Now, I attended Grease at the Orpheum when they had the car and that was impressive…..this double-decker…..I gotta see! Fan favorite songs like “The Twelve Days of Christmas”, “Parade of Toy Soldiers”, and “Let Christmas Shine” will also be preformed. With a total of 300 costumes, thousands of crystals, and more than 300 eye-high kicks. The Rockettes will get you ready for the holidays!
From Thursday, November 13th, through Sunday, November 30th, the Radio City Christmas Spectacular Starring The Rockettes will be preforming at Omaha’s Orpheum Theater! Tickets are on sale NOW at TicketOmaha.com starting at $35.00. If I was a betting woman, I’d bet they will sell out before too long.
